K2 Urbancorp Attracting Residents with Authentically Designed Bungalows

From the Tallahassee Democrat

Founded in December 2002 by David Wamsley, Fincher Smith and Timothy Jamieson, K2 Urbancorp debuted its first authentically designed bungalows and cottages. Since then, K2 has attracted a great deal of attention with their Genevieve Place, just off of Park Avenue and Richview. The 1920's styled neighborhood won the God Awards in the Parade of Homes during the past two years as well as the Realtor's Choice Award. K2 Urbancorp has also been selected as a "preferred builder" at Southwood.

Another highly acclaimed K2 home is situated at the corner of Hillcrest and Mahan in Tallahassee's historic Old Town. "I can't tell you how many people think this house is a remodeled century-old home," said CEO David Wamsley, "And that is the greatest compliment for us at K2," he added.

K2 Urbancorp is currently taking this treasured bungalow style to Tallahassee's hottest development at Southwood. The Mandalay series features arts and crafts styling made popular during the turn of the century. It is a style well known for showcasing fine wood craftsmanship. "The bungalow style home was designed to integrate the outside environment with the inside of the home which is particularly appropriate on the lots we have chosen in Southwood," said Wamsley.

The Mandalay I is being built at 3240 Appleton Drive in Southwood and consists of five bedrooms with four baths in a multi-level building that has 3,751 square-feet of heated and cooled space. A deep and spacious front porch is accentuated by specialty columns and brackets inspired by the great craftsman of that era.

The front entrance welcomes guests into a large great room highlighted with natural wood products, soaring ceilings and large open windows. The great room flows easily into a formal dining area and spacious kitchen with breakfast nook and a child's craft room or home office as one chooses. The main floor offers a library that can alternate as a secondary family/media room, a guest bedroom or a study. The master suite of the Mandalay I also features a built-in dressing cabinet and window seat that frames a magnificent patriarch oak outside the master bedroom window. The master bath is highlighted with a Japanese style soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. This home also offers a separate bedroom, bathroom and family room on the basement level with direct access to the back patio and yard that could function perfectly as a mother-in-law suite or separate guest quarters. The plan also includes a garage with a finished upper carriage house. A slightly smaller version, the Mandalay II, is also currently under construction on a corner lot on Belle Meade in Southwood.

With emphasis on quality workmanship and handcrafted beauty, K2 has brought back the rich traditions of home building to the Tallahassee area. For more information call Jacques Depart at 850.222.3704 or visit the website at www.k2urbancorp.com.
