K2 Urbancorp Brings Home the Gold

TALLAHASSEE - K2 Urbancorp burst into Tallahassee three years ago ready to redefine the Capital City's landscape - literally. After winning for Best Home $215,000 - $260,000, Best Home $500,000 - $700,000 and the Realtors' Choice at this year's Parade of Homes, that goal is quickly becoming a reality.

"There are so many great builders in Tallahassee," said David Wamsley, CEO of K2 Urbancorp. "This award is a testament to our efforts, and also to every builder who works to make our city a more comfortable place to live."

K2 Urbancorp showed two houses at this year's competition. A bungalow in the Old Town section of Tallahassee, 408 Hillcrest was declared the Best Home $500,000 - $700,000 gold winner. The Hillcrest House is a superb example of K2's striking combination of breathtaking design and commitment to innovative urban infill techniques. Another K2 house, located at 1116 Morningside Court in Genevieve Place, earned gold in the $215,000 - $260,000 category as well as the Realtors' Choice award.

"There was such a competitive pool of builders, it was tough deciding who should get the gold," said Saxon Hannon, president of the Tallahassee Builders Association. "Though K2 was recognized in several categories, the real winners are the people who live in and around the communities they build."

The K2 team attributes the popularity of their designs and craftsmanship to building homes that will stand out for generations.

"We're not just building houses," said Wamsley. "We're giving people a place to call home."

Other award recipients at this year's Parade of Homes banquet included W.E. Wilcox Construction, Aspirant Homes, William Faulkner Construction, Premier Construction, Hartsfield Homes, Turner Heritage Homes, New South Homes, ERTL Homes, Maxwell Custom Homes, Florida Environmental Homes and Dion Builders.

The Parade of Homes is an annual event held in Tallahassee allowing builders to showcase their newest home designs.

K2 Urbancorp was founded in 2002 by David Wamsley, Fincher Smith and Timothy Jamieson and immediately began winning awards for its home designs. Best known for its 1920s-style bungalows and cottages, K2 builds homes with a passion and commitment to detail not seen in over a century. The company has recently announced plans to build 417 Park Avenue (417park.com), a 1930s-style Spanish revival, luxury condominium in downtown Tallahassee.
